Elegant & Colorful Destination Wedding at the Gibbes Museum in Charleston

*This wedding was planned and designed via our sister company Ceremonia by CD.

P + T’s wedding weekend in Charleston, South Carolina, was one of those events that reminds us why we love what we do. As their destination wedding planning and design team, our goal was to create a weekend that felt true to them — relaxed yet refined, design-forward but never overdone. What unfolded was a celebration filled with personality, movement, and intention from beginning to end — as you will see in our BTS video below.

Things kicked off at The Mills House with a rehearsal dinner and welcome party that instantly set the tone: bold, joyful, and full of color. The setting was layered with tropical prints, sculptural florals, and soft lighting — a warm, upbeat atmosphere that brought everyone together without feeling overly formal.

On the wedding day, the couple and their parties got ready at the French Huguenot Church. The bridal suite offered a peaceful space for the morning, while the courtyard just outside became the scene of one of our favorite moments — their first look. Framed by brick, greenery, and soft light, it felt like a genuine pause in the middle of the excitement. There was something incredibly grounding about it.

The ceremony took place inside the French Huguenot’s iconic pink church. With its historic bones and natural beauty, the space didn’t need much. We added a modern, asymmetrical floral arch at the entrance — subtle and sculptural — giving the setting just the right amount of edge.

Afterward, guests walked through downtown Charleston in a first line to the Gibbes Museum of Art, where the courtyard had been transformed for the reception. The design leaned into the couple’s modern colorful vision — hanging florals, layered textures, curated menus, and a color palette that felt bold but balanced. It was joyful and fresh, and when P + T walked in and saw it for the first time, they were completely speechless. That moment — their reaction, the energy, the way their friends and family lit up around them — captured everything.

The celebration only grew from there. The dance floor stayed packed, the speeches were meaningful, and the entire space felt alive. Later that evening, the bride surprised everyone with a quick outfit change: a pink sequin jumper and sneakers. She hit the floor with her new husband, and from that point on, the night became unforgettable.

This wasn’t just a beautiful wedding, it was a fully considered experience — the kind you wish you could bottle up. Dive into the full gallery below and relive every moment through the lens of Sacia Matthews and the film by Reagan Lynn.

Told by the bride herself:

Magical Planning, Lasting Friendship: Our Dream Wedding a Reality Thanks to Claire!

From the first conversation with Claire, I knew that I wanted to work with her! She exudes kindness, warmth, professionalism, and an unwavering attention to detail. Throughout the entire planning process, Claire and her team stayed true to these values, making the journey not only seamless but truly enjoyable. If you care about thoughtful design, meticulous planning, and working with someone who takes the time to understand your unique vision, hire Claire—you won’t regret it!
Claire and her team played a pivotal role in designing, planning, and executing every aspect of our destination wedding weekend in Charleston, SC. They helped make what could have been a stressful process feel exciting and manageable. From the start, they helped us create a planning timeline that took into account our other life commitments, ensuring we could stay organized without feeling overwhelmed. They respected our budget, guiding us through important decisions about where to invest and helping us prioritize the elements that mattered most to us, while setting realistic expectations. The team’s approach made every dollar spent feel worthwhile. Claire’s design team took our ideas, vision, and priorities and turned them into something truly special. Their creativity and innovation led to unique ideas and details that we couldn’t have thought of or made possible on our own. Our closest friends and family remarked on how much of “us” was reflected in every detail, which is exactly what we’d hoped for. Throughout the entire process, Claire and her team were incredibly responsive, always available to answer questions, solve problems, and make decisions quickly. Wedding planning is rarely without a few hiccups, but Claire and her team were there every step of the way to advocate for us with vendors, swiftly develop solutions, and ensure that any obstacles never disrupted the flow of the planning process. And when it came to the wedding weekend itself, they made sure we could be fully present, enjoying every moment without worrying about the logistics. Even though we had seen the beautiful renderings and design decks that Rafa and Eli had created for us, nothing could have prepared us for the breathtaking reality of seeing our vision come to life. Our jaws literally dropped when we walked into the space—it was more stunning than we could have imagined. Looking back, the entire experience—from the planning to the execution—was truly magical. We will forever cherish not only how Claire and her team brought our dream wedding to life but also the added gift of a friendship that felt like family by the end!
